Top Gear Is Back... Again

Clarkson, May and Hammond – the Top Gear trio – are back on our screens once again with the 19th series of the hit TV show, but don’t get too excited.

With the show having sold around the world, it really is a big hit which has made millions for the BBC, and in the UK it still does pretty well in the ratings; its success is phenomenal. But for me, there’s a problem – it has nowhere else to go.

They’ve raced across London, driven around Europe in supercars, raced across America, played conkers with caravans, built limousines and amphibious cars, lapped the Nürburgring, played car football, tried to escape a helicopter gunship… need I go on?

My point is that all of these things (and hundreds of others) have been done and there’s nothing else to do except go round and round the same old circles. I used to look forward to seeing it every Sunday evening, now I might as well just watch repeats on Dave – they’re more entertaining. How bitterly disappointing that is.
